YIM VING TSUN

According to legend, as a young woman Yim Ving Tsun (wing chun) learned Kung Fu from Buddhist nun Ng Mui, one of the Venerable Five Kung Fu masters of the Southern Shaolin temple. After training for a short period of time, she was able to defeat a bully in an unarmed challenge match. In overcoming a larger, stronger opponent, Yim Ving Tsun personified the system named for her.

LEUNG LEE TAI

A contemporary of Wong Wah Po, Leung Yee Tai learned Ving Tsun Kung Fu from Wong, and taught him the Kwan pole techniques. Together, they refined the system.

CHAN WAH SHUEN

Known as ‘the money-changer’, Chan Wah Shuen was already a Kung Fu master before becoming the student of Leung Jun in Fatsan. Chan passed just a few years after taking on the young Yip Man as his last disciple.

YIP MAN

The last disciple of Chan Wah Shuen, Yip Man taught students first in Fatsan, and later in Hong Kong. He was the first to teach Ving Tsun openly and publicly, so that it could be widely known and shared. He was the Sifu of ‘Gong Sao’ Wong, Bruce Lee and Moy Yat, as well as thousands of others.

MOY YAT

One of Yip Man’s closest disciples, Moy Yat is remembered today as one of the foremost masters of Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu, as well as many other arts. At age 24, he became the youngest Sifu authorized by Yip Man. Grandmaster Moy Yat taught thousands in his lifetime, in addition to publishing 6 books and over 30 videos on Ving Tsun.

MOY TUNG

Grandmaster Moy Tung began training under his Sifu, Moy Yat, in 1980. He became a member of the Moy Yat Special Students Association in 1984, and founded the Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy in 1986, at his Sifu's direction.

Today, there are 3 generations of Sifus teaching Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu in Grandmaster Moy Tung's lineage. This website is for the association of these branch schools; the Moy Tung Athletic Association (MTAA).
