2020: Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Anniversary

2020 was a different kind of year for everyone. Usually, the Moy Tung clan celebrates the Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy anniversary with a long-weekend of in-person training, and instruction in Ving Tsun (wing chun) Kung Fu by Grandmaster Moy Tung, SSA guests and MY3 Sifus.

2020, however, was the first year of Coronavirus and COVID-19, so this was the first year there was no in-person participation option, but there was an option to participate by live video, and many did. Until restrictions were lifted, live-video classes and workshops were the way many Moy Tung-lineage schools adapted and kept the training and instruction going.

With Ving Tsun Kung Fu’s emphasis on forms and conditioning drills, the months-long break from in-person Chi Sao training ultimately contributed to the growth of everyone’s Kung Fu. The continued development of the MTAA schools despite the pandemic is a testimony to the power of Ving Tsun Kung Fu, and the capacity of the Moy Tung Sifus - see video below featuring Grandmaster Moy Tung at the 2020 Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Anniversary.
